The Sierra Nevada is an isolated mountain range in northern Colombia, separated from the Andes and running through the center of the country. At an altitude of 3500m and only 42km from the Caribbean coast, it is the highest coastline in the tropics and one of the highest coastlines in the world. Coffee is mainly grown by indigenous groups in this region. This coffee comes from the COOCAFE cooperative, an association of small farmers who are committed to protecting natural resources, producing organic and fair trade coffee, offering their farmers quality of life, strengthening the social fabric, and enabling access to local, national, and international markets.
