MUHONDO | HONEY | GRADE A1
The Muhondo washing station is situated in the northern region of Gakenke District at an altitude of 1800m. The surrounding hills are covered with coffee trees and houses of local farmers, who carry their cherries by bike or on foot to the washing station. During the honey-process, the pulp is removed from the bean, but the mucilage, also known as honey, is retained. On drying tables, the coffee is then dried for 25-30 hours and thus unfolds its special honey aroma.
