Burundi is situated on a plateau at an altitude of 1400m - 1800m. The coffee in the Gitega region is grown on terraces due to the hilly landscape. This coffee is produced by a small group of local farmers on limited acreage and processed and dried at the Mboneramiryango Washing Station.
